Tripolino

Created in Czechoslovakia in around the 1950s, the Tripolino was designed by Alois Wolf.  Vehicle production in post-war Czechoslovakia was very limited and did not fulfill the demand for personal transport and so a number of vehicles were built by amateurs or as a small run, one of these was the Tripolino.

With a body that was designed fopr high speed, this 2-seater vehicle was powered by a Jawa 350cc, 2 cylinder, 2-stroke air cooled engine that was fitted at the rear providing power to the rear wheel via a chain. The rear of the vehicle lifted up to provide access to the engine. The 350cc engine gave the vehicle a top speed of around 71mph (115 km/h) though there were plans for a 500cc version with a top speed of approx 93mph (150 km/h)

Only the prototype vehicle is still known to exist though this has the engine missing.

The Tripolino. (My thanks go to Wolfgang Baldus for sending in these pictures).
