Arvil Shepherd (Shep)

I am saddened to hear the news that Arvil Shepherd, or “Shep” as many people knew him, passed away on 3rd October 2007.  Shep was well known for numerous reasons from his photorealistic automotive paintings and his custom painting of Corvettes, Motorcycles and Vans. Shep has also built several Street Rods, Customs, and Sports Cars and his latest creation was his 3-wheeled Scorpion that was meticulously modified from a Vortex to his own design.

When 3-wheelers.com began in July 2000, Shep’s Scorpion was in it’s very early stages and it was one of the first few vehicles that graced the pages of my web site.  Shep was so thrilled by this that a couple of months later, the postman brought a large parcel to my front door.  As a thank you for including his vehicle, Shep sent me a limited edition print of one of his paintings “Yesterday” with the words, “398 / 500.  Elvis .... Best Wishes on the 3-wheeler site .... Shep 11-00”.  To say I was delighted was an understatement and the picture was framed and has adorned my dining room wall ever since.  On the back of the image is the history of how this painting came to be.

Sadly I never got the opportunity to met Shep, though we did have many enjoyable conversations about 3-wheelers via email.

My condolences go to his wife Donna of whom I never met, but I know she will miss him greatly.,
