LDV

The LDV Tri-van was manufactured in Wolverhampton (UK) in 1949 by LDV Ltd (Light Delivery Vehicles Ltd).  The company was a division of the Turner Manufacturing Company and so the vehicle was equipped with a 168cc Turner-Tiger engine that powered the front single wheel with the engine mounted directly above it. The vehicle had a large motorcycle style single seat and a rear carrier that had a loading capacity of 3cwt.  In 1951 a taxi version (Rixi) was announced along with the By-van that had two front wheels with a 168cc engine mounted above each wheel. Production of all vehicles ceased in 1952 after very low sales.  The vehicle pictured is believed to be the only existing survivor in the UK (owned by Lee Ward) whilst one more Tri-van also exist in Tenerife.
