Since Michael Taylor's Trik was first added to the Project Gallery, I have received e-mails galore asking for more information and indeed asking how to contact Michael Taylor. I had lost contact with Michael for a while but after placing a note for him on his page, he contacted me with more information on the Trik. Michael writes:
As I mentioned I have been teaching teachers how to integrate a design and build philosophy into the primary school program and some of the students have designed 3-wheelers. They have done a great job, completing excellent design portfolios and even casting their clay designs in plaster to make resin copies. I'm sure they would love to make the real thing but of course that would be outside the public
education budget. I will be spending quite a bit of time this year lecturing on the application of ICT, design and building in the school curriculum to primary school teachers. I haven't started on another 3-wheeler as yet but know I will when things slow down. I have been fortunate enough to keep my hand in the engineering world by helping a mate put together a Pitts Monster bi-plane (a real
one) down in Ballina. I do not want to go up for a test flight as I cant even watch a hand held video without getting motion sickness. Attachments are of 3-wheelers, orange, blue. All 10% scale models. Designers were 11 years old. Most kids chose to design 4-wheelers or buildings. Their design portfolios were excellent.
The fellow in the car is our cad draftsman Aaron, who was the best
looking bloke in the factory, which doesn't auger well for the rest of us. The girl in the Trik (shown on the brochure) was the daughter of the guy who owned the lightwing aircraft factory next door to Mikes. Curiously, his name is Howard Hughes. .... also here are some pics of 3-wheeler models designed by local students. |
