Gillet

The Gillet car was built in Belgium 1937 by Gillet-Herstal.  The vehicle was powered by a 1928 air-cooled 500cc Gillet Herstal motorcycle engine that was started by a kick starter. The Gillet had three speeds but no reverse.  The front assembly of the vehicle is believed to have come from Renault or a Peugeot from the 1920’s.  Production of the Gillet car finished in 1938 though the company continued to make motorcycles changing its name to Geco-Herstal after buying out the French maker “Gerkinet”.
