“35” The oldest 3-wheelers.com vehicle

In April 2009, my brother purchased a 1935 Reliant 7cwt van, or at least the remains of one.  As Reliant were founded in 1935, it is the first model that Reliant produced powered by a J.A.P 600cc single cylinder engine. (In mid 1936 in was replaced by a J.A.P twin cylinder engine). The vehicle has a steering wheel positioned in the centre and the driver sits almost astride the engine with the clutch pedal on the left and the brake pedal on the right.

To date we know of just two other vehicles of this type that exist, one has been restored and the other is a chassis and running gear that was purchased by the Reliant company in 1998.

Please follow us therefore as we restore this superb piece of Reliant history. When the restoration was first started we did not know the registration number and so the vehicle was dubbed “35”.
