Lucie: The 3-wheelers.com vehicle

October  2008. Page 1 of 1

Sadly working in Dubai again has meant very little has been done to Lucie this month.  It can be a nuisance having to work away for weeks at a time and not having time to do things.

When I got back from Dubai I did go round the garage and take the car for a long spin around Tamworth where she performed admirably though I have noticed that she is leaking oil on the passenger side of the engine.  I’m not sure if this is coming from the tappets cover or from the fuel pump.  I have however been buying numerous items off e-bay one of which included a selection of cork, paper and metal sheets for making gaskets so I can take things apart and hopefully cure the leak.

I also want to strip down the carburettor, fit new points and condenser and have a set of Champion spark plugs which I am told are better for this engine.  Hopefully these things will help give me a little more power up hills.

I’m not sure if the old radiator cap was broken though underneath it was a large home made fibre washer. Thankfully, I managed to get a New Old Stock AC radiator cap that was advertised for a Jaguar XK120 though just happened to be the same type as the old one.  The original AC sort look much better than the colourless modern equivalents.

One important thing is that I have also bought a new fire extinguisher to keep in the back and this time I am not going for one of those small useless ones that the Automotive shops  and I’ve gone for a 2kg Powder fire extinguisher which that will hopefully prove much more useful - not that I ever want to experience a car fire again.

I am hoping that during November, I can get a few more things done.

Elvis Payne.
