Waddington & Sons Tricar

Waddington & Sons Tricar

Description

Waddington & Sons Tricar or Waddington & Sons Forecar.

The company was based at 30 Newport Road, Middlesbrough . The production of motorcycles began in 1902. Tricars and automobiles also emerged later . The brand name was Waddington . Production ended in 1906.

Built-in engines from Fafnir , Minerva and Motor Manufacturing Company powered the motorcycles.

In addition, Forecars were created based on the motorcycles , which offered space for a passenger between the two front wheels. A vehicle of this type from Waddington has been preserved. A Fafnir engine with 500 cm³ displacement and 3 hp power powers the vehicle. It was offered at auction by Bonhams in July 2009 with an estimate of £20,000 to £25,000, but did not sell.

The automobile range consisted of two models. Both were equipped with a built-in De Dion-Bouton engine and shaft drive . The smaller model had a single-cylinder engine with 6.5 hp and a two-seater body. In the larger model, a two-cylinder engine with 12 hp powered the vehicle. The tonneau body offered space for four people.
