Description

Opperman Motocart

Just after WWII engineering company Opperman started to produce a mono-wheel tractor.

The first mono-wheel tractors had started to appear in the 1920’s, but with improving engine technology, it was possible to create an affordable single wheel powered vehicle to pull a trailer. The first Motocart was produced in 1945 and powered by a 4-stroke single cylinder air-cooled 6.5hp Douglas or 8hp Jap engine with production continuing into the mid 50’s with over 10,000 vehicles being produced.

The vehicle were maneuverable and capable of carrying loads up to 1.5 tons and could accomplish uneven terrain and hill climbs with low gearing and were popular and practical in comparison to the horse and cart.
