Manufactured by Tankettes Ltd in Finsbury Park, London, UK in 1920 the Tankette Runabout weighed just 270lb and was capable of 100 mpg.. It was a diminutive 3-wheeler and had a price tag of £92 10s that also included a year’s insurance policy..  Despite its size it came equipped with a hood, screen, small electric lights and a long cushion seat with a padded back that would accommodate two people.  Fitted with a 2.75 bhp, two-stroke, air-cooled, Union engine it was capable of 30 mph (48 Km/h).  The engine sat vertically at the fore part of the chassis in between the front two wheels and provided drive to the rear wheel by a chain through a 2 speed gearbox that sat below the passenger's seat.   Although the vehicle was classed as a 3-wheeler, the single wheel at the back was actually two wheels that had been bolted together.  Production of the Tankette is believed to have ceased in the same year
