1929 Blotto 350cc Auto-Tri
Description
1929 Blotto 350cc Auto-Tri Commercial 3-Wheeler (‘Triporteur’)
In France, triporteurs are a fondly regarded form of transport. The name describes any three-wheeled vehicle, including un-motorised delivery tricycles and ordinary pedal trikes; motorcycle and scooter pick-ups and vans; the later style of closed-cab vehicles (such as the Vespa Ape); and three-wheeled micro-cars. In the early days of the 20th Century, the firm of Blotto Frères was one of the foremost manufacturers of delivery tricycles in France and its machines featured prominently in the popular triporteur races held annually. Nowadays a Blotto is extremely rare anywhere in the world, even in its home country. This machine pictured here is an example of one of Blotto's first motorised models and is fitted with a 350cc engine believed to be of Anzani manufacture. It was discovered France, where it was being used by its owner for exhibitions.
