Description

The Stevens Brothers was established in Wolverhampton (UK) in 1932 following the liquidation of the A.J.S. Motorcycle Manufacturers. The Stevens Brothers owned A.J.S and after its closure decided to start again under the name “Stevens Brothers”.  In 1932 they produced their first commercial van that was actually based on a 3-wheeled prototype that was but in 1921at A.J.S. The vehicle was based heavily on a motorcycle with a complete motorcycle front end.  It was powered by an A.J.S 500cc side valve engine with a hand change gear box.  The wooden body housed a single motorcycle type seat and had a canvas roof.  The first vehicles were chain driven but this led to a number of problems and so in 1935 a shaft drive was introduced. Whilst early vehicles had a 5cwt load capacity, this was increased to 8 cwt in later models.  The vehicle was made up until 1936 when the brothers decided to cease production
