The Kenda Technology (International) Ltd company in Hong Kong were first incorporated in 1993 with an aim to sell Italian automotive technology to Far East countries and produce a high performance 3-wheeled utility vehicle for transporting passengers and cargo. Whilst the vehicles are manufactured in Hong Kong, the Trio was developed by Kenda’s associated company AD Engineering in Italy as a low cost vehicle for, but not exclusively, developing countries. As a result the Trio is able to negotiate unpaved roads and trials with heavy loads.
The standard Trio is powered by a 546cc 2 cylinder, 4 stroke water cooled engine with 25 HP that is manufactured in China and is attached to a car-type gearbox with 4 forward gears and reverse. The body is made from reinforced fibreglass panels that are supported by a tubular steel roll bar that complies with European regulations. The fibreglass panels can be easily removed and replaced if they should become damaged.
The Trio comes in three versions, the Trio Pickup; an open back vehicle that has a load capacity of one ton or up to seven people. The Trio Delivery Van that has an enclosed three cubic meter cargo area and the Trio Passengers vehicle that has a passenger section that can carry up to eleven people.
