Economic

Description

The Economic first appeared in London (UK) 1921 and is one of the lightest 3-wheelers of the early 1900’s.  Manufactured by Economic Motors the vehicle featured a simple two seater body with very little protection from the natural elements.  The body was made of Aluminium and fastened to an Ash frame and chassis.  The vehicle had no springs or shock absorbers as it was believed the wooden frame would soak up all the shocks from the road.  The Economic was powered by a 2-stroke, flat twin engine that was under 200cc.  The final drive was by chain to the rear offside wheel.  Empty this 3-wheeler weighed just 150lb and had a maximum speed of 30 mph.  Production ceased in 1922.
