Bond Minicar Mark "B"

Bond Minicar Mark "B"

Description

1951 Bond Minicar Mark "B"
With 2000 examples of the BOND MK A were sold and on the road, it would appear that it was a hit with the public.

The next version, the Mark B, was launched in July 1951.

Although visually similar, the Mark B incorporated some notable improvements such as a larger more powerful Villiers engine of 197cc, rear wheel suspension and modifications to the rear-end design.

A safety glass windscreen was by now recognized as standard equipment for all Minicars.

The term "MARK A" was not officially recognized until the model had been replaced by the Mark B, since the longevity of the line had not previously been envisiaged.

Probably the most striking feature of the Mark A's and Mark B's is the headlamps fitted on to the side of the body, they tend to vibrate loose and to end up pointed directly down to the ground!

Four versions of the Mark B were produced, a 2/3 seater convertible, a "minivan" a "Family Safety Saloon" and "Family Convertible".
Manufacturer: Sharp's Commercials, Preston, Lancashire England
