Lucie: The 3-wheelers.com vehicle

Lucie on TV and in Films

I am delighted that in the relatively short time I have owned Lucie (My 1961 Reliant Regal Mk VI van) she has appeared in a couple of films and on TV:

Film: Toast

In June 2010 Lucie took part in a film called Toast being made by the BBC and Ruby Films.  The film is based on food writer Nigel Slater’s book of the same name and documents his childhood.  In the film (set in 1967) Lucie plays a Gardener’s van and so had to be painted beige and look dirty. She was in a scene that lasted just over 30 seconds.  For more information click here. (Right: Lucie on set of Toast)

Broadcast Date: December 30th 2010

The scene with Lucie can be viewed here.

TV Drama: The Royal

In November 2008 Lucie took part in the TV medical drama “The Royal”.  In the episode she plays a run down old van that is on its last legs and infested with fleas. As a result she was painted up with black, brown and grey paint to look as rough as possible.  The vehicle is lent to porter Alun Morris (Andy Wear) by his Uncle Jack (Garath Hale) to take a nurse on a date. In The Royal, Lucie appears in two scenes that total about 1 minute. Luice appears in the very last episode filmed - Episode 87: The Enemy Within.  For more information click here.  (Right: Lucie on set of The Royal)

Broadcast Date: UK July 31st 2011 (Episode also shown in Denmark, Finland & Canada)

The scene with Lucie can be viewed here.

TV Advertisement: BFBS3

In September 2008 Lucie took part in a TV advertisement along with a number of other Reliant 3-wheelers to advertise a new channel 3 on BFBS3 (British Forces) Television. For the filming Lucie was left in grey primer.  There were two adverts that were shown that feature Lucie and she appears in them for about 5 seconds.  For more information click here.  (Right: Lucie on set for BFBS3

Broadcast Date: From February 2009

One of the adverts can be viewed here.

Film: Soul Boy

In September 2008 Lucie took part in a film called Souled Out that was then renamed to Soul Boy. The film (By Ipso Facto Films) is about a 17 year old called Joe MCCain (Martin Compston) and Northern Soul Music.  Set in 1974 Lucie was used as street dressing in one of the scenes where Joe is talking to some one on a doorstep working on his moped.  Lucie was left in grey primer for the film though given the angle of the shot may only appear for a split second.  When the film was finally released on DVD in January 2011, the scene with Lucie in it has been cut from the film.  I spoke to someone else who was invited to a special preview of the film who seem convinced they saw Lucie in it.  Therefore, maybe that was a Director’s cut where as the DVD version isn’t.  For more information click here.  (Right: Lucie on set of Soul Boy)

Released: September 2010
