Tamworth Herald.  (Page 16 - 17. August 23rd 2012)

In August 2011 the Tamworth Herald featured an article about the 7th Reliant Gathering along with a few past Reliant photos that included a photo of me from 2007 with my old Reliant “Ole Bliue” and a mention in the main text.

Text read:

The countdown is on for this year’s Heritage Festival, with just over one week to go until Tamworth is transported back in time.  And this year alongside a Saxon encampment on the Castle Grounds and a display of the Staffordshire Hoard inside historic Tamworth Castle, the festival will feature a celebration of a nostalgic Tamworth company - Reliant.   On Sunday September 2 between 11am and 5pm on the Aldergate car park, residents and visitors will be invited to view many of the company;s famous vehicles - including the 1973 Reliant Robin - on display.

So as part pf this special celebration, this weeks Pictures from the Past looks back at the success and faces of the motor company which was formed in 1935.

Its production was based in Two Gates until 1968 when the factory closed - but its history lives on, thanks mainly to Elvis Payne, a long life Reliant fan who has even published books on the company.

And in the past, Reliant has been in the spotlight with visits from Princess Anne and future Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to name but two.
