NSU

NSU was founded in 1873 and in 1880 they relocated to Neckarsulm. (Germany)   The company did not actually get its NSU name until 1882. The company first produced motorcycles in 1901 and as was the trend at the time developed the NSU forecar from a motorcycle in 1905.  Powered by an air cooled 6hp twin cylinder engine the Forecar was practically the last car of this kind by 1910.  Companies like Riley and Singer who both produced similar designs were all ceasing manufacture of such vehicles in favour of  4-wheeled designs. NSU stopped producing the Forecar in the early 1920’s and concentrated on motorcycles.  By 1955 they were the Worlds largest motorcycle manufacturer.
